Michael Douglas’ Young Lookalike Son Blasted for Bad Manners While He Expresses Gratitude to Dad & Mom

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones’ young son praised his parents at their rare family outing.

The youngster faced criticism over his manners during the touching speech for his mom and dad.

Devoted dad Douglas is sure that his beloved son was raised to be well-mannered.

Spouses of 22 years, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, made a public appearance with their 22-year-old son, Dylan. The family attended the Los Angeles “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” premiere on February 7, 2023.

The trio was interviewed by Entertainment Tonight at the said event. Dylan had the opportunity to gush over his world-famous parents when asked about their work.

“There’s some competition, friendly competition,” he revealed about their normality back home. “It’s great to see both my parents still doing great work, and I’m just happy to be here,” he added.

The youngster mentioned how “proud” he was of his mom and dad and noted that they are good parents too. “I’m very, very proud, they’re great actors, both Academy Award-winning actors, but they’re great parents and that’s a side that not everyone gets to see but I get to see every day in and out.”

Dylan spoke fondly about the Hollywood couple, who seemed to be emotional while looking at him talk to the reporter and smiled throughout the interview listening to him. Zeta-Jones expressed it was thrilling to have their son with them and to hear him speak warmly about her and Douglas:

“It does feel good. He’s been in college all these years, and now he gets to go out and about with us.”

Why Did Dylan Face Backlash after His Speech about His Parents?
Following Dylan’s heart-warming words about his beloved parents, he faced criticism from social media users. During the interview, the California native appeared to be chewing gum, leaving a bitter taste in their mouths.

“What the heck is he chewing? Gum? He needs to work on that. For a kid of privilege, he doesn’t have manners,” one person wrote on Facebook.

Another individual echoed the same sentiments and stated it was about time he learned how to conduct himself. “Dylan has to learn manners. His chewing gum here is not the place. He has no respect for his parents or the occasion. He looks spoilt.”

A third Facebook user complimented him on his appearance but noted that he needed to have etiquette skills. “Dylan looks great, but his behavior…he has to learn a lot.”

A fourth person joked that Douglas and Zeta-Jones needed to ensure that their son “finished eating his dinner first” before bringing him to a public event. A fifth individual stated the couple must have been embarrassed to see the clip afterward.

Meanwhile, another social media user said Dylan could have avoided doing that during the interview. “The least he could have done is to stop chewing for the 3 minutes they were being interviewed. Poor representation for the family.”

Douglas Said His Son Is “Well-Mannered”
In October 2010, the family patriarch got candid about raising his brood and said his priorities changed after they were born. Douglas stated that he always tells others to focus on their careers before settling down.

He said having Zeta-Jones in his life was something he never anticipated. It was because he was happily single after divorcing his first wife, Diandra Luker, with whom he shares a son named Cameron.

The “Basic Instinct” actor touched on his age gap with Zeta-Jones and said it has never been a factor in their relationship. Moreover, he admitted how his age could affect his children:

“I’m aware that I’m going to be 75 when my son’s 18 and my daughter’s 16.”

Douglas shared that he liked waking up the children for school and getting them ready when they were ten and seven. He would prepare their meals every morning and later ask about their day and who their friends were.

The proud father said his bond with his kids is strong in that they are secure with each other. “It is tremendous, unequivocal love with no judgment, and that is the best feeling in the world.”

While at it, the father of three mentioned that his brood has good manners. “They’re not spoiled or obnoxious. They’re well-mannered, confident, and pretty worldly.”

Douglas also revealed that Dylan “has dyslexia to a degree – it runs in the family, and my brother has it,” adding that they enrolled him at a special school.
