The Spooky Moment That Freaked Kelly Ripa Out on ‘Live’

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos faced an unexpected interruption during LIVE with Kelly and Mark.

On the Wednesday, September 25 episode of the popular talk show, the husband and wife co-hosting duo started the program by discussing all things fall — meanwhile, a faint sound played in the background.

“It’s over! September is over!” Consuelos, 53, exclaimed. Ripa clarified they still had a little more time to go before it’s officially spooky season. “Not yet, one more week,” the Daytime Emmy Award winner noted. “Creeping up. One more week, that was fast; next thing you know, pumpkins are out, decorations are out,” Consuelos remarked.

Ripa admitted that she was unsure whether she wanted to decorate the couple’s home this year for Halloween, but didn’t get too far into her explanation before she got distracted by the ongoing music. “What is that? Is that spooky Halloween music?” the Hope & Faith alum asked. The pair looked around, seemingly confused about where this music originated.

Like the professionals they are, the power couple put their confusion aside and continued their segment through the ‘spooky’ music before it finally ended.

Entertainment Weekly reported that the mysterious noise came from an audience member’s phone.

As for why the soap opera actress doesn’t want to decorate her house for Halloween, she said it was due to the amount of construction work on their street. Consuelos had no objections to skipping out on decorations this year. “I can get behind that… we don’t have any kids living in our house anymore,” the Riverdale alum stated. The A-list couple, who wed in 1996 after co-starring in All My Children, share three children: sons Joaquin, 21, and Michael, 27, and daughter Lola, 23.

However, Ripa seemingly felt a little guilty about not making her house festive this year. “No, I understand that, but there are other people’s kids that enjoy it,” Ripa explained. Consuelos, on the other hand, admitted that other children would not be a deciding factor for decorating. “Yeah, I don’t care about other people’s kids… I wish I did, I just don’t,” the father of three confessed.
